QUESTIONS ABOUT INSCRIPTIONS

What will my donation support?

As a learning laboratory for music performance and education, the Hamel Music Center’s outstanding acoustic and recording technology will prepare students to perform at the highest of professional standards and allow faculty, staff, and guests to offer exceptional and innovative educational experiences.

True to our land-grand mission, our enhanced capacity to prepare, present, and capture UW-Madison’s greatest musical moments also will enable us to share our gifts far beyond the borders of campus.

How do I make a gift without requesting a seat plaque inscription?

Click here to go directly to the UW Foundation’s Hamel Music Center Fund giving page.

What are the specifications for the seat plaques?

Plaques will be affixed to the back of seats in the Mead Witter Foundation Concert Hall.

Each plaque is 1 3/8 in. tall by 2 7/8 in. wide, copper, and engraved with black infilled type.

Each plaque may have up to four lines of text with 20 characters (including spaces) per line.

Inscriptions will be in UPPER-CASE LETTERS only. Font size is 16 pt.

All inscriptions are subject to approval by the Mead Witter School of Music.

What is the deadline for submitting my inscription request and donation?

Donations and inscriptions are welcome until further notice. Those received before June 1, 2019 will be installed before October’s opening events.

May I select the location of my seat?

Seats locations will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. As floor plans can change, locations will not be identified until the construction is completed.

If you would like to request a location, please let us know in the comments field. While not guaranteed, we will make every effort to accommodate your request.

May I sit in the seat I have named when attending performances?

Seat dedications cannot guarantee access to performances. However, most performances do not have assigned seats so we hope you will take advantage of the opportunity!

May I order more than one inscription?

Yes! Please complete the submission process as many times as you wish.

To name five or more seats or to name a section of seats, please contact:

Are there additional naming opportunities available for larger gifts?

Can this be a joint gift?
